Utilitarianism
Utilitarianism is a teleological theory within normative ethics, which is concerned with working out how people should interact with one another for the purpose of promoting pleasure and preventing pain within society. This course covers the context of utilitarianism; its different types; the ideas of key thinkers (e.g. Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill); applying and evaluating the theory; and the legal, social, and religious perspectives in the area. This course is designed for anyone interested in utilitarianism; however, it's specifically linked to specification content for the following qualifications.
